Khyber Agency: Fence installation conflict continues at Torkham Pak-Afghan border, hundreds of Afghan families repatriating their homeland are also stuck at Landikotal, Torkham and adjacent areas.

The closure of Pak-Afghan border on one side causing billion rupees loss to national economy and on other side the blockade of the border has also created miseries for Afghans returning to their homeland.

Bareedad ,  A residence of Baghlan province said they were living in Sialkot city of Pakistan in a rented house and now has left for Afghanistan. He said due to border closure they were also trapped with his 10 members family and their luggage.  Ali Muhammad,  the truck driver  transporting Afghan families to Afghanistan said the border closure has not only created miseries  for transporters but to the families returning back to Afghanistan.  He demanded quick negotiation process on part of high rank officials of both neighboring countries to peacefully resolve the border issue which will not only enable Afghan citizens going back to Afghanistan but it will also help restoring the halted  business activities between two countries.

It was learnt that a large number of trucks laden with perishable goods returned back to Peshawar owning to the unknown time frame for the resolution of the border issue.

This is pertaining to reiterate that the border has been closed for all sort of traffic since last four days when Afghan security officials stopped the Pakistan border authorities to install fence and barbed wire close to the border on Pakistani side.

According to the Pakistan border officials fencing and barbed wire installation was being done as a security measurement, smooth flow of pedestrians crossing Pak-Afghan border and to avoid traffic congestion as well.

Unless and until the Afghan border security officials deny installing fencing and barbed wire installation the border will remain closed ,  Pakistani border security officials argued.

We discovered no response when tried to contact the officials of Afghanistan In Islamabad and Peshawar regarding the Pak-Afghan border issue. The Afghan officials did not answer the phone call nor did they respond our text message.
